April serves as the Council Representative to Kensington, Talmadge, and University Heights, and the Constituent Services Representative to Golden Hill, Normal Heights, North Park, and South Park.

She is the councilmember’s liaison to the Kensington/Talmadge Planning Committee, Kensington/Talmadge Community Association, Talmadge Community Council, Talmadge Maintenance Assessment District, University Heights Community Development Corporation, and the University Heights Community Association.

April also handles issues related to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), homeless, senior, and social issues and serves as the office liaison to the African-American community.

A third-generation native San Diegan, April is a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School and San Diego Mesa Community College. She returned to San Diego after spending two years at the University of California at Los Angeles where she earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and Afro-American Studies.

A keen music lover, April enjoys local bands, live shows, and traveling at every opportunity she gets! She currently lives in the wonderful South Park community!
