| Denise has 15 years of experience in
public affairs and community relations.
Before joining District Three, Denise spent eight years providing
public relations and community outreach services to various government
organizations. Her client experience includes a statewide consumer
protection agency and various water districts. She most recently managed
Woodenship, a local advertising and public affairs firm.
Denise has worked at both the community and statewide level, handling
community and media relations for elected officials including Speaker
Emeritus Antonio Villaraigosa, Assemblymember Mike Gotch and San Diego
City Councilmember Valerie Stallings. Denise has lived and worked
in Los Angeles, San Diego and Sacramento, giving her vast familiarity
with Northern and Southern California communities.
In 1993, Denise worked in Sacramento assigned to the Assembly Ways
& Means, Natural Resources and Local Government Committees. Prior
to her legislative experience, she practiced urban planning as both
a Land Use Planner for the City of San Diego and a Planning Assistant
for the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG).
Denise holds a masters degree in public administration and bachelor
of arts degree in urban planning from San Diego State University.
She currently serves on the California Department of Health Services
Domestic Violence Program Advisory Council.
